The dastardly duo strikes again

Don't be fooled by these cute faces! As I was loading the dishwasher, these two formed an unholy alliance and did UNSPEAKABLE things to the bathroom. Nothing a bottle of bleach can't clean. I wonder if that will erase my memories and the horror! When will my son's obsession with the potty end????
UPDATE: Kevin thinks you all would enjoy details of the crimes committed against the bathroom. I think you would prefer I not share those details! :)

Toddler crisis

Today we went to toddler story time and toddler arts and crafts at our local library. It was a blast until the craft came along. Mimi had a hard time with the glue. It was an old glue stick, and had lost its' stickyiness/glueiness (probably not words, but you get the idea). I attempted to help/intervene, but she began to screaming she did not want my help, and she hit me several times!

There were lots of people there. I didn't really know what to do other than pack her and her brother up and come on home. So, that is what we did.

I love Mimi's independence, but sometimes she is so fiercely independent that she misses out on fun things. She is so focused on doing it on her own. Arg! I hope the day goes better! I stuffed the aforementioned craft into my bag. Maybe we will have a go at it here at home without the audience.

I was bored, Mimi didn't want to sleep, and I am sooo tired of painting with Mimi. Last summer I got a huge lot of felt at a garage sale. So, we played with the felt, we cut out shapes, and then I became inspired! ;)

Mimi, our more serious child, told me her "bootiful" hair was bothering her, so we put it up.

Moe was very jealous and was only happy when he had a bow in his hair.

Mimi looked at me with an air of disgust and said "he always wants to be like me."

Our family pet Diego

Diego, a FurReal Chimp, has been Mimi's steadfast companion since potty training. Diego makes some chimp like noises and moves his eyes and arms. He has become a regular member of the family. He usually has on a diaper. Someone at Kevin's office recognized a picture of the kids from library group, and told Kevin how funny it is to watch Mimi care for Diego. Diego has been everywhere with our family, and I will be sad when he is no longer a beloved toy!

You can't make this stuff up!

I was pleased as punch to see that one, until Kevin said that I would be ready to take on the world after I got that professional help suggested by the first fortune cookie. :) I wonder who writes these and how that first one got through.

Winter weather woes....

Don't get me wrong...The snow is pretty and it is reassuring to actually have some winter weather during the winter months, however I am done with it! We all have cabin fever! There are only so many pictures to be painted, colored, or drawn. And I am tired of play-doh! Oh, to be free to leave the house without fear of the road conditions!

Playdates Rock! The calm after the storm!

Here lies Mimi exhausted after hours of play with her friends! I am so thankful to have such a great group of mommas and kiddos to get together with. It is good for the kids and me!

If you ever get the chance to paint on a canvas with a toddler, DO IT! I told Mimi I wanted to paint a robot, and she gave me some good tips:
1. Trace it.
2. Be patient.
3. Add balloons.
I followed her instructions, and I think even she is impressed. So impressed she has requested we hang it her room!
My fellow artist is now napping. I should follow her lead and do the same!

Here are Mimi and Moe. We have had a rough weekend. We all have colds. i think Kevin and I are the sickest. The kids have cycled through whatever we have very quickly, and are moving about at a much quicker pace than us . In fact, they had so much energy that they put all of their bathroom toys in the potty! GROSS!!!
As for my crafting: I am going to start painting some tonight. I got some canvases. Lately I have been a bit obsessed with robots! Who knows, I may end up with a robot wall in my house! Mostly I am trying to work up to firing up the ol' sewing machine! At least now it is prominently displayed on its' own desk!

My first entry! Who am I? Why am I doing this?

Who am I? I am a SAHM to two toddlers: Mimi & Moe. Mimi is 3 years old, and Moe is 19 mo. old. I am an older momma. I am in my 30's. I am tired a lot, but it is worth it! I stay up too late at night to spend time with hubby or to work on crafts. I keep saying I will go to bed sooner, but I never do. In fact, I get a second wind once the kids are down! I like to piddle around with crafts, but here is the problem:
1. I own oodles of crafting supplies, and I hoard them. I have all these beautiful fabrics which I never use for fear of ruining them.
2. I am afraid of my sewing machine! Seriously, I am. I want to be a competent sewer.
3. I spend entirely too much time online. I will research just about anything. Or I will spend hours browsing etsy.com finding crafty things to make, but time always get away from me.
Why am I blogging? I don't really have an answer...So, I guess we will see what shape this blog takes, and that may tell me if I want to keep it up or not.
