Hot! Fun Holiday Weekend!

Ralphie plays all day. Even when it is HOT and HUMID out. He is always wound up and ready for play. Nothing wears him out.

This one wants in. He is no dummy.

Here is Kevin studying something...probably Math.

A hot habanero plant. I made zucchini subs for lunch with swiss chard, onions, basil, chives, a one of these. It totally kicked our butts! HOT! It was great!! :)

Here is garden 1 in all its' glory. It's doing well, and finally tomatoes are turning red.

Garden 2 looks far more chaotic, but that is just the vining nature of the squash. Also we had several volunteer tomato plants, and we did not have the heart to kill them.

I wish it would cool back down. The humidity makes it unbearable!
We are enjoying Kevin's long weekend!

Your garden looks great. How do you fight squash bugs?

You know...I think the only way to kill them is with siven seven, but you can repel them with this recipe:

2 tablespoons of powdered cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon castille soap
1 cup of water

let sit overnight.

mix in one gallon sprayer with 3 tablespoons vegetable oil. shake constantly while spraying. it can clog the sprayer. Spray a stream not a thin mist or it will clog....shake, shake, shake!

Kevin came up with this on his own. He looked online, and formulated his own version. It doesn't kill them, but really repels them. THey leave right away!
