YIKES!

Ike sent some storms our way, and the power was down for almost a full 48 hours hours! The power line was down on our street.

I was amazed by several things:

1. People walked up to the downed line and touched it. One guy took his son up to it and then he shook it! These are dangerous! People get killed by downed lines!

2. Life without electricity isn't so bad after all. If you exclude the refrigerator, freezer, and deep freezer food loss, there wasn't much change in our house. It was painful to have a total loss of food, but we tried to make the best of it. We grilled up most of the fish and chicken, and then fed our neighbors!

3. Solar lanterns are the best invention ever. We used them in the evening, and then set them outside during the day so they could charge.

We really can't complain. We still have our home and everything in it...minus any food! We spent much of the time together! Mimi summed it up best :
"It's like camping in our house!"

Have a good week! Karen
